At Messines Farm, we are always looking for ways to combine traditional farming values with modern technology.
As a regenerative farm in Queensland, our focus is on producing high quality food, improving soil health, and reconnecting people with the natural world. However, like many small farms, we also face the challenge of managing labour-intensive tasks efficiently while maintaining sustainable farming practices.
In 2024, we were honoured to receive the Xero Trailblazing for Technology Award, selected from thousands of applications across Australia. The funding has enabled us to invest in agricultural drone technology that will help transform how we manage our farm.
Agricultural drones have the potential to significantly reduce the time and physical effort required for tasks such as crop spraying and farm monitoring. By improving efficiency and precision, these tools allow farmers to focus more on land stewardship and less on repetitive manual work.
For us, the benefits extend beyond our own property. As part of our commitment to education and community engagement, we plan to document our journey and share what we learn with other farmers interested in adopting new technologies. We believe innovation should be accessible and that practical demonstrations can help build confidence in emerging tools.
The introduction of drone technology represents another step in our mission to create a more sustainable and resilient farming future. By combining regenerative agriculture with smart technology, we hope to demonstrate how modern farming can be both productive and environmentally responsible.
We look forward to sharing updates as we begin integrating this exciting new technology into our farming operations.
