During 2015 to 2016 Natura Pacific were contracted to survey, design and implement a Koala Offset Management Plan for a new residential development in Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast. Under Queensland state laws, Koalas require stringent conservation and planning mitigation measures. Tallebudgera is a local hub for Koalas and contains large swathes of remnant wet sclerophyll forest and notophyll vine forest pockets along waterways with many large habitat trees. Natura Pacific is working to minimise the impact on these forests during the construction of house pads and roads by replanting removed habitat trees at a ratio of 1:5 in other parts of the site to link up Koala movement corridors, buffer overall fragmentation impacts and improve aesthetic and living quality for future residents. The intention is that this development will be one of the more sustainable and least environmentally impacting housing estates on the Gold Coast, and that with careful management, Koalas will continue to inhabit these forests long after completion.    – KOALA HABITAT ASSESSMENT – OFFSET MANAGEMENT – ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING –
