Natura Pacific successfully coordinated the Gold Coast Waterwatch program from 2009 to 2016, teaching thousands of students from early childhood through to senior high school about the importance of our waterways and catchments. Natura Education’s efforts included lifting participation rates from an average of 1,700 students per annum to 3,096 in the first year to 4,809 students the following year, on the same budget. In 2010 the Gold Coast Waterwatch program was awarded the ‘Veolia Water Australia – School Award’ at the Queensland Healthy Waterways Awards and was a finalist in the awards in 2011 and 2012. Also in 2012, the Gold Coast Waterwatch Program was announced as the Australia / Oceania regional winner of the World Water Monitoring “Water Champion” Award. This program reached students of all ages throughout the Gold Coast and contributed meaningful water monitoring data of the Gold Coast catchments throughout each year. – WATER QUALITY MONITORING – COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT – ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION –
