Did you know that Australia has it’s very own native bees? They are much smaller and harder to spot than the traditional honey bees that have been introduced here, nor do they deliver the sometimes nasty sting that their Europen cousins do. In fact our native bees are a critically important part of the ecological functioning of our native landscapes and sadly, as with many other native species, they have suffered reduced numbers as a result of habitat loss.
This video is part 1 of a 5 part series that focuses on the native stingless bee and what can be done to help protect their populations into the future.
If this video peaked your curiosity then you may be interested in watching Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5 of the series too. And if you come across any native bees or a hive than may be in danger of damage or removal then please contact us to see if we can help.
