From 2017 to 2019, Natura Consulting worked with Qld Department of Transport and Main Roads through contractual enrolment of Lendlease Communities to provide guidance and fauna management services for the upgrade of 2.2 km of Waterford-Tamborine Road and Dollabird Drive servicing the new state priority development area of Yarrabilba in Logan. The project involved providing management strategies to mitigate impacts of the development to local and regional fauna populations, specifically Koala and Short-beaked Echidna. The field-work and reporting produced a mandatory compliance guideline for the clearing and development of the road that helped mitigate fauna impacts by retaining significant habitat trees, building fauna underpasses and rope-bridges and ensuring appropriate spotter-catching and monitoring activities take place throughout the construction of these phases of the project.
