Tamborine National Park

Tree and Protected Plant Survey

During the latter half of 2018, Natura Consulting embarked on a 3 km tree and protected plant survey of a proposed fire-trail upgrade for Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service throughout the Cedar Creek section of Tamborine National Park near Tamborine Village. The project entailed traversing the length of the fire-trail using a 25 m wide survey buffer to geolocate, identify and flag all significant trees and protected plants within the proposed trail alignment. The survey proposed the retention of significant habitat trees and plants of ‘City-wide Significance’; under the City of Gold Coast Planning Scheme Version 7 and re-aligning the trail to avoid and protect these important assets of local significance. The trail alignment was completed for the purposes of fire management in order to protect local communities.
